The Liberation Scholarship Program offers 70 scholarships to highly motivated students from Canada who would like to study in the Netherlands for three to twelve months and become part of the long-standing historic ties between the two countries.

To celebrate seventy years of liberation and honour the sacrifices Canadian soldiers made for our freedom, the Netherlands launches the Liberation Scholarship Program, as a token of lasting gratitude and friendship.

The Netherlands pays tribute to the brave Canadian soldiers who played a pivotal role in the liberation of the Netherlands. This shared history still connects us today.

To celebrate seventy years of liberation and to honour the sacrifices Canadian soldiers made for our freedom, the Netherlands introduces the Liberation Scholarship Program in 2015. As a token of lasting gratitude and
friendship, seventy highly motivated Canadian students with a strong  Academic background will receive a scholarship to study at a Dutch university (of applied sciences) for 3 to 12 months between 2015-2017.

The scholarship comprises:

  • One-off grant to cover international travel and initial costs for your stay in the Netherlands;
  • Tuition fee exemption in the Netherlands;
  • Support from your Dutch host university (housing, visa, etc);
  • Membership of the Liberation Scholarship Program alumni network.

 

Application criteria

  • You have Canadian citizenship.
  • You apply for a study period of between three and twelve months at one of the participating Dutch higher education institutions.
  • Your study period in the Netherlands starts before 1 September 2016.
  • You meet the specific requirements of the institution of your choice.

Scholarship

You will receive a one-off scholarship to cover international travel and initial costs for your stay in the Netherlands, which you will receive one month after the start of your study period in the Netherlands.
